Slit lamp is a device for examination of eyes and it emits high-intensity light which is focused to shine a thin sheet of light into the eye. It helps in examination of anterior segment, frontal structures and posterior segment, of the human eye like eyelid, sclera, conjunctiva, iris, natural crystalline lens, and cornea. It helps in detecting many diseases such as Cataract, Conjunctivitis, Corneal injury such as corneal ulcer or corneal swelling, Diabetic retinopathy, Keratoconus (Fleischer ring) etc.
